Q: What is birth registration?

Answer: The birth registration is the name and gender of the person, name and place of a person, their nationality and permanent address under the Registration of Birth and Death Registration Act, 2004 (Act No. 29 of 2004) Provide payment and birth certificates.

Question: Birth registration application process?
Answer: In the application form prescribed for birth registration (print or hand writing), the registrar must apply with the following document or certification. It is also accessible to br.lgd.gov.bd website and to register birth registration online along with the registrar's office. Registrar will be able to register birth after the application is submitted to the registration office (click to apply online).

If applying within five years of birth of a registered person-

    Data gathering certification, or
    Certified copy of the EPI card, or
    Certified copy of the certificate of birth certificate received from the concerned medical institution or from the said institution, or
    The Registrar thinks it necessary to have a copy of another document, such as the date of birth, or
    The certification of an NGO worker specified by the registrar as the information collector.

After applying five years after the birth of a registered person,

    Certification of the respective Ward Councilor / Member for proof of MBBS doctor and birth place or permanent residence for the age proof, or
    Provincial teacher or principal of the concerned educational institution or certified by the teacher or officer nominated as the information collector for proof of age and birth, or
    Proof of age and birth certificate, certificate of birth certificate received from EPI card or passport or secondary school certificate or birth certificate of any medical institution or the institution, or
    The Registrar thinks it necessary to have a copy of another document, such as the date of birth, or
    The certification of an NGO worker specified by the registrar as the information collector.

Q: Who are the birth information providers?

Answer: The parent or guardian of the child will be responsible for giving birth information to the Registrar within 45 days of the birth of the child.

Besides, the following people can send information to the registrar for the registration of a person's birth:

    Union council member, and secretary;
    Village police;
    City corporation or municipality councilor;
    Health workers and family welfare workers in the union council, municipality, city corporation or cantonment area;
    Private workers in the health and family welfare sector (NGO) field workers;
    In relation to the birth of a government or private hospital or clinic or maternity or other institution, its appointed medical officer or doctor or any officer empowered;
    Any other officer or employee employed by the Registrar;
    Jail Super or district or person authorized by him in case of imprisonment;
    Officer of the concerned thana for abandoned child;

Any other person or organization determined.
